How Mercari fees work in 2026
Mercari charges a flat 10% selling fee when an item sells, and for new and updated listings no separate payment-processing fee for sellers. There are no listing fees. The catch is the base the 10% is charged on: it is the item price plus any shipping the buyer pays, not the item price alone. So on a $50 item with $8 buyer-paid shipping, the fee is 10% of $58, not $50.
Your real take-home also depends on who covers postage. If you use a Mercari prepaid label, that label cost comes out of your payout; if you bake shipping into a higher “free shipping” price, the 10% applies to that higher price. Either way, run the numbers before you list, because shipping is where thin margins disappear. One housekeeping note: very old listings created before the January 2025 change may still carry the previous structure (10% plus a 2.9% + $0.50 processing fee) until you update or relist them, refresh them to move to the cleaner 10%-only model.
