How eBay fees work in 2026
eBay’s main charge is the final value fee (FVF), taken when an item sells. For most categories it is about 13.6% without a store, or 12.7% with a Basic Store subscription or higher. Some categories differ: books, DVDs and music run higher (around 15.3%), collectibles up to 15%, while guitars (about 6.7%) and athletic shoes over $150 (about 8%) are lower. On top of the percentage, eBay adds a per-order fee of $0.30 on orders of $10 or less, or $0.40 on orders above $10.
The detail that quietly erodes margins: the FVF is charged on the item price plus shipping (sales tax is excluded), so building shipping into a higher “free shipping” price does not avoid it.
